Indoor lighting tips

Learn how to light your room today and change the look of your house completely. Selecting a lighting in the room requires one to be careful and considerate of several important factors. For example if you have a modern sofa, get a lighting that has clean line to improve your space.

Layers of lighting

We have three layers of light. They include: task, ambient and accent. The type of the room and size will always determine the layer needed. But in general, at least two layers are needed for proper lighting in the room.  Don’t be surprised to see how adding a layer of light can greatly change your house appearance. The best place to begin while lighting a room is ambient lighting. It is the overhead lighting system and provides light to the entire room.

The other layer, task lighting is essential when one is to perform a task that requires adequate lighting. Task lighting is a good indoor lighting technique that must be fitted in specific places within the room. Activities like reading, applying make ups and cooking are better performed under a well-lit environment. In that case, consider installing a task lighting in the kitchen to facilitate efficient cooking, in siting rooms and bathrooms too. Consider Lamp Island, track lighting, vanity lighting, work lamps and under-cabinet as task lighting sources in lighting plan.

Apart from that, we have accent lighting as the other source. Allows a clear visualization of particular items in the room. When you compare ambient lighting and accent, you will discover that accent serves to help ambient. Where ambient lighting is not efficiently supplied, accent stands out to make the place more visible. Wall scones, recessed lighting and track lighting are the most important sources to consider when coming up with a lighting plan.

Factors to consider while establishing indoor lighting

When installing an indoor lighting, it is generally important to know that different sections require different intensities of light. For instance your bedroom requires less lighting than your office or living room. You will realize that it is essentially important to have accent lighting in your living room. In the living room there are several items that needs to be seen clearly. They include artworks and pictures on the wall.

A dimmer switch can be added to increase flexibility. This enable you to turn on the switch when your child is at the dining table doing some homework or switch it off when you are having your friend around for a party or something.
