Chandeliers are amazing lighting fixtures when used correctly. They bring out the glamour and splendor of a room according to the décor of the space. Among several factors which are considered during the selection process of chandeliers is their size. The size of the space correlate directly to the size of the lighting fixture. That’s why a large chandelier lighting cannot be used for a small space. If you have a large and spacious room or a foyer then the types of lighting fixtures you should be going for are the large chandeliers.
Foyers match very well with large chandeliers but the size is still a factor of consideration since not all foyers are sized the same, neither are the chandeliers. Here are a few tips to guide you through the entire process of selecting the most appropriate large chandelier size for your foyer.>
Height of Your Foyer
The height of the foyer in this context can be determined by measuring the height between the floor and the bottom of the chandelier. Basically an average space height of 184 inches should be allowed. If the foyer’s ceiling is less than 184 inches then it’s not suitable for hanging a chandelier.
Height of the Chandelier
Height of a large chandelier lighting also goes hand in hand with the height between the ceiling and the floor. Approximate height of the chandelier should be every 2.5 to 3” of the chandelier for every foot of the ceiling height of the foyer. A simple arithmetic will help you get it right. 1ft equals 12”, so multiply the height of the ceiling in feet by 12 and then divide by 2.5. That should give you the appropriate height of a chandelier for your foyer in inches.
Take note to include the lengths of the cap and chain required to hang the large chandelier lighting when taking measurements of its total height.
Width of the Chandelier
An ideal width for the chandelier should be determined by simple arithmetic as well. Measure the height and width of your foyer using feet as unit of measurement. Add the dimensions together and the resultant value in inches should be the width of your chandelier.
With these simple steps, you should be able to determine the most appropriate size of the chandelier for your foyer. The size of the fixture will be proportionate to the size of the foyer. Remember, proportionality is a key factor as far are as splendid decoration of a room is concerned.
